What is the Beyblade X Custom Line (CX)?

Beyblade CX tops feature a construction system that reimagines and expands upon the “Blade” component. Blades in the Custom Line are split into three parts: the Lock Chip, Main Blade, and Assist Blade. This builds upon the existing construction system for Beyblade X introduced in the Basic Line (BX) and Unique Line (UX) while deepening customization possibilities.

Constructing Your Beyblade

Lock Chip

Dran Lock Chip

The Lock Chip is the central piece of the Blade with the Beyblade’s avatar. As such, it’s where the first part of the Beyblade’s name comes from (ex. The “Dran” in “Dran Brave”). It is used to secure the Main Blade and Assist Blade together. The tightness of the lock may vary slightly from Lock Chip to Lock Chip, and technically this piece also plays a part in determining overall resistance to coming apart (“Bursting”).

Main Blade

Brave Main Blade

The Main Blade is a ring composed of both metal and plastic. It is the primary point of contact between tops and contributes most significantly to the weight of the overall Blade.  The design of the Main Blade will have a large effect on how aggressive or passively it interacts with its opponents and how long it can spin for.

It is secured by the Lock Chip onto the Assist Blade below. Unlike previous Beyblade X systems, multiple distinct Beyblades can be released with identical Main Blades (ex. Hells “Reaper” and Rhino “Reaper”).

Assist Blade

Slash Assist Blade

The Assist Blade is a plastic ring secured below the Main Blade. As the name suggests, it plays more of a supporting role when it comes to the overall performance of the Blade. The effects of the Assist Blade may be seen the most when playing lower opponents or at the end of a battle when it may scrape against the stadium floor.

The height of Assist Blades is also not uniform, meaning that some may be taller or shorter than others. There are marks on both the top and underside of them to indicate their thickness. The top side has a circular pattern that’s divided into three sections. Thinner Assist Blades have two protrusions at the end of each section, while thicker Assist Blades have a third protrusion in the middle of each section. Additionally, the bottom side of thick Assist Blades has an “X” mark inside of a square molded into the plastic while thin Assist Blades do not.

As of writing, there are two different heights indicated by these markings. For instance, the Jaggy Assist Blade and Slash Assist Blade are the “thin” variant while the Bumper Assist Blade and Round Assist Blade are examples of the “thick” variant.

Ratchet

6-60 Ratchet

The “Ratchet”: this is the plastic lower middle portion of the Beyblade that locks into the Assist Blade, that plays a similar part in determining the Beyblade’s height, contact points, and to some extent its resistance to coming apart (“Bursting”), while also housing the next component.

Bit

Vortex Bit

The “Bit”: the Bit is the very bottom of the Beyblade that comes into contact with the stadium and its various elements. This bottom determines how the Beyblade moves (fast, slow/aggressive, passive) as well as directly determining how burst resistant the top is as a whole. The thicker the circumference is of the Bit shaft that attaches to the Ratchet, the harder it will be for that Beyblade to come apart. Every Bit has a gear design made especially the Xtreme Stadium and other Beyblade X series stadiums.

Each one of these parts can be switched around and swapped out, making for a whole host of Beyblade variations that all work in different ways from one another.

Each of these parts are carefully constructed with specific goals in mind, and it is up to each Blader how they want their Beyblade to function, and whether their own goals match the design goals of a given component.

CX-06 Random Booster Fox Brush Select Review

CX-06 Random Booster Fox Brush Select includes a randomly selected right-spinning attack type Custom Line Beyblade X top.

The prize top, Fox Brush J9-70GR, comes with four brand new parts. The first is the Fox Brush Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Fox Lock Chip and Brush Main Blade. The Jaggy Assist Blade, 9-70 Ratchet, and Gear Rush Bit round out the rest of the combination.

This product introduces us to an all-new motif – Fox. It appears to be based on Japanese folklore and yokai, the supernatural Kitsune, sporting a fitting red and white.

CX-06 is a product with very narrow appeal. While the re-release of the 9-70 Ratchet is a major plus, especially for Silver Wolf Blade users, nearly everything else in the set falls short in competitive relevance. The Fox Brush Blade’s underwhelming attack capabilities, combined with the erratic Gear Rush Bit and niche Jaggy Assist Blade, leave little room for top-tier performance. If you’re a collector drawn to the Kitsune-inspired motif or someone in urgent need of 9-70, it may be worth picking up. Otherwise, this release is easy to skip in favor of more consistent and value-packed options.

  5. Gear Rush Bit: 2.12g
Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. The 9-70 Ratchet is re-released for the first time in nearly a year, being previously locked to the UX-07 Phoenix Rudder Deck Set. This Ratchet is incredibly useful in the niche it occupies thanks to its middle-ground height and tried-and-tested 9 Ratchet design. It should come as no surprise at this point that this too is a piece with 9 sides. This Ratchet is almost the sole reason to purchase this Random Booster Select. If you are able to find the original UX-07 that may be more cost efficient than purchasing a complete Select box, but only marginally so. The 9-70 Ratchet plays a very important role in the increasingly important Silver Wolf Blade combo creation. This height and design is among the most useful for Silver Wolf Blade in particular, taking advantage of its plastic ring exposure while not being a massive burst risk compared to most other 70 height releases.
Weaknesses
  1. The Brush Main Blade has 9 contact points, likely a meaningful reference to its Kitsune origin, and hitting a bit above 30 grams alone. None of these contact points are perfectly alike, making for a very chaotic silhouette and insinuating poor balance from the beginning. One of the tails is noticeably larger than all of the rest, meant to be a focal point of the Blade and where it gets most reward for making contact as an Attack type. But in the end, it lacks meaningful or sustained Attack power. While it can land a decently hard blow in the first two hits, it has little gas in the tank for more than that. Even when considering that, there are numerous other Blades capable of that and more in the first two hits, like Shark Edge Blade, Dran Buster Blade or Impact Drake Blade that would be far higher on the list of Blades to rely on in a competitive setting. The multiple contact point design gimmick has not improved one bit in all the years Beyblade has been around as a game.
  2. The Jaggy Assist Blade shares the 9-pointed design that the Brush Main Blade has with downward sloping points across its perimeter. It is also surprisingly light and hollow, not even scratching 5 grams. It is clear that this Assist Blade was meant for the Brush Main Blade specifically, and any congruence elsewhere in the future is likely a happy accident or a connection to the Kitsune lore. It is likely to be relegated to a gimmicky Assist Blade option, meant to work best with the Brush Blade, and even there it struggles to make a case for itself with other better Assist Blades available.
  3. The Gear Rush Bit is, like all other “Gear Bits” a remix of an existing Bit but with its gears extending much farther down than the original. The intention behind this design is to more quickly and reliably activate the Xtreme Rail gimmick. This time the Rush Bit is reimagined, with 10 teeth extending all the way down to the flat surface of the Bit. We wonder why this wasn’t modified to be 9 teeth instead. In terms of performance, it is far too chaotic, uncontrollable, and prone to self-Xtremes and skipping the Xtreme Line to be relied upon in the same way its namesakes are.
  4. The rest of the Random Booster Fox Brush Select offerings leave much to be desired. None of the other components are particularly useful. The Unite Bit being re-released for the first time in the east is notable, but the part itself is less so.

CX-05 Random Booster Vol. 6 Hells Reaper T4-70K Review

CX-05 Random Booster Vol. 6 Hells Reaper T4-70K includes a randomly selected right-spinning attack type Custom Line or Unique Line Beyblade X top.

The primary prize top, Hells Reaper T4-70K, comes with four brand new parts. The first is the Hells Reaper Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Hells Lock Chip and Reaper Main Blade. The Turn Assist Blade, 4-70 Ratchet, and Kick Bit round out the rest of the combination. The secondary prize, Rhino Reaper C4-55D, comes with four brand new parts as well. The first is the Rhino Reaper Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Rhino Lock Chip and Reaper Main Blade. The Charge Assist Blade, 4-55 Ratchet, and Dot Bit round out the rest of the combination.

While CX-05 Random Booster Vol. 6 offers a one standout part for competitive players, the Kick Bit, its overall value depends heavily on your goals as a player or collector. Competitive players may find it hard to justify due to the underwhelming performance of the new Blades and the unpredictable nature of what Beyblade you will pull. However, for collectors, casual players, or those seeking a few parts which up until now had only been included in a single release, this booster provides decent variety. If you’re chasing the Kick Bit or missed earlier releases, CX-05 may be worth a try. But if you’re strictly looking to improve your tournament lineup, your money may be better spent elsewhere.

  3. Turn Assist Blade: 5.80g
  4. 4-70 Ratchet: 6.46g
  5. Kick Bit: 2.21g
Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. The Kick Bit is what can only be described as a more hexagonal Taper Bit. It features the same basic design, but with a hexagonal perimeter rather than a circular one. It is, like the Taper Bit, an incredibly useful middle-ground between unchecked aggression and reliable endurance. It is the highlight of this release. While its hexagonal Bit perimeter seems to make it more likely to skip the Xtreme Line or reduce its X-Dash capabilities, it boasts impressive stamina – longer than the likes of Rush or Low Rush Bits. It also comes across as oddly more docile than the original Taper Bit, and because it can skip the end of the Xtreme Line during an X-Dash, this may reduce self-Xtreme Finish risk. Overall it shares if not overtakes a niche with the original Taper Bit as a high endurance Bit with enough aggression to score Over and Xtreme Finishes, but without the drawbacks of complete unpredictability. A great choice to further game plans of Blades like the Knight Mail Blade, or for a surprise factor on something like Aero Pegasus Blade.
  2. The Turn Assist Blade shares a four-sided design with the Reaper Main Blade, yet comes along with a fairly smooth, lower-hanging twist to it. Weighing closer to 6 grams, it is among the heaviest Assist Blades available at release. This weight and relatively inoffensive shape are positives that while struggle to find a use with current CX Main Blades, remain as a solid foundation for a potentially useful use case given future releases.
  3. Although they are not competitively viable, this product contains first-time re-releases of the 3-85 Ratchet, 4-55 Ratchet, and most notably, the Leon Crest Blade and Phoenix Rudder Blade. Casual players, players who missed these parts the first time around, or players who participate in events with alternative rulesets may find this booster to be worthwhile for this reason.
  4. CX-05, and all Random Boosters are products aimed specifically at a variety of different types of players. Those with existing collections, those with a desire to get parts in all sorts of different colours, those who might have missed specific parts in their original release, and hardcore players who may want to obtain new copies of frequently used parts. In some cases, the quality of the parts included may also change from release-to-release due to manufacturing variances. While CX-05 doesn’t offer many positives for the latter group, the included 7-60 Ratchet with Whale Wave 7-60 Kick is a top-tier part at release. Your results may vary, but in our case the 7-60 Ratchets we obtained from this Random Booster had a better fit with some Blades (less wiggle room between the white connector on the Ratchet and the casing it fits into on Blades) and produced slightly better balanced combinations than the previous copies of the part we had from other releases.
Weaknesses
  1. The Reaper Main Blade is an average, thin, four-sided Blade coming in at 29 grams alone. Its connection to the original Hells Scythe Blade is clear with four symmetrical coarse contact points that worked incredibly well for the original. Unlike the original, though, these points are not backed up by meaningful weight or full shape, instead taking on a less rounded or thick approach likely designed with consideration for the Assist Blade’s existence. Because of this, it struggles to find a use, being too weak to score consistent Over or Xtreme Finishes in the beginning or later stages of a battle, and too imbalanced to find a home in stamina combinations. While the Hells Scythe Blade design was excellent for its time, the Hells Reaper Blade took all of its positive attributes and threw it out of the window, leaving a Blade that looks like it should perform similarly to the original but performs far worse in practice.
  2. The 4-70 Ratchet is a frequently re-released component that at this point lacks meaningful purpose in competitive Beyblade X thanks to the “4” Ratchet design being among the most burst prone. The 70 height only makes it easier for contact to be made with this piece, reinforcing the fact that this Ratchet is more of a liability in competitive play than anything else.
  3. The Turn Assist Blade’s bevelled edge and width make its future a bit shakier than it otherwise could be. It ensures that there is a gap between itself and the Main Blade, unfortunately preventing a seamless form when paired with a Main Blade. With current Main Blades its weight and relatively smooth design are not enough to bring CX Blades into contention as serious meta threats and while this isn’t Turn Assist Blades fault specifically, its faults do not remedy the issues CX Blades tend to face – awkward, stilted, imbalanced designs.
  4. The nature of Random Boosters makes it so you can never be sure of what you’re going to get. It is essentially unregulated gambling. Nor do these releases ever provide launchers or other useful Beyblade accessories.

CX-04 Battle Entry Set C Review

Summary

CX-04 Battle Entry Set C includes an Xtreme Stadium, two special re-coloured right-spinning Custom Line Beyblade X tops and two Winder Launchers. Each top comes with five brand new parts.

The first is the attack type Dran Brave S6-60V (Special Ver.). Its parts include the Dran Brave Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Dran Lock Chip and Brave Main Blade. The Slash Assist Blade, 6-60 Ratchet, and Vortex Bit round out the rest of the combination.

The first is the stamina type Perseus Dark B6-80W (Special Ver.). Its parts include the Perseus Dark Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Perseus Lock Chip and Dark Main Blade. The Bumper Assist Blade, 6-80 Ratchet, and Wedge Bit round out the rest of the combination.

While compared to UX-04 Battle Entry Set U this stadium set falls very short, you do get some value out of it in terms of the stadium, launchers, and a few new key CX components like Dark Main Blade, Bumper Assist Blade, Wedge Bit, and Vortex Bit. This set more closely aligns in value with the first or second entries than the UX entry, and from that perspective it isn’t terribly out of line.

Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. This set perfectly introduces a new or returning player to the fresh CX system while also giving them all the tools required to have a full Beyblade battle – two launchers, two Beyblades, and an entire Xtreme Stadium in one convenient package.
  2. Just like the CX Starters, this set comes with excellent Winders and Launchers for those that enjoy that style of play or are just getting into the Beyblade hobby and lack a means to launch their tops.
  3. The Dark Main Blade is a good mobile anti-Attack option that can compete with the likes of Knight Mail Blade in the niche well enough. Blades like these aren’t always the easiest to come by, and their niche is rather small, but the fact they are both unexpected and formidable make them an excellent curveball.
  4. The Vortex Bit is a highly aggressive and potent Attack Bit with serious competitive viability – without relying on being a Rush Bit clone. It is both faster and more frequently Xtreme Dashes, perfect for all-or-nothing style Attack combos that don’t necessarily want a Rush Bit style of play.
  5. The Bumper Assist Blade is, of the first three CX Assist Blades, the most competitively relevant thanks to its shape and weight. It serves as an excellent Stamina/Defense option.
  6. The Wedge Bit is an interesting and unique Bit with the potential for a variety of applications from Stamina combos to semi-aggressive Attack combos. It is definitely a Bit like no other, that you have to experiment with yourself to truly understand.
Weaknesses
  1. Apart from three or four specific parts, the set doesn’t stand out very much competitively speaking. For veteran players it is a hard sell unless they are a big fan of the pink Xtreme Line, clear plastic stadium body, or re-coloured Beyblades
  2. The set’s cost is prohibitive for most that would be importing it from abroad, making it difficult to truly recommend to anyone, especially over previous sets that debatably provided more value on top of an Xtreme Stadium.
  3. It is difficult to know whether to label this as a “strength” or “weakness”, but the Xtreme Stadium included with this set does appear to use a slightly revised mold in comparison to previously released iterations. The opening in front of the apex of the Xtreme Line to the inside of the inner circular ridge at the centre of the stadium is slightly larger on this stadium than the previous versions. This can be beneficial or detrimental depending on your strategy. What it means in practice is that Beyblades that end up in the middle of the stadium are more likely to stay there. And it makes performing what is known in the Beyblade community as the “reverse Xtreme Dash” (where your Beyblade is launched on an angle to slow move in the opposite direction that it normally should around the perimeter of the stadium against the Xtreme Line) marginally more difficult as you have to ensure that it doesn’t get caught on the slightly expanded ridge of the inner circle of the stadium. For players who have acclimated themselves to the original mold of the Xtreme Stadium, the transition to this new version may be difficult initially.

CX-03 Perseus Dark B6-80W Booster Review

Summary

CX-03 Perseus Dark B6-80W Booster includes a right-spinning defense type Custom Line Beyblade X top. The top comes with five brand new parts. The first is the Perseus Dark Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Perseus Lock Chip and Dark Main Blade. The Bumper Assist Blade, 6-80 Ratchet, and Wedge Bit round out the rest of the combination.

For players with an existing launcher, this Booster is a strong pickup thanks to its well-rounded and versatile parts. The Perseus Lock Chip and Dark Main Blade nod to the Metal Fight generation classic Gravity Perseus, while the Bumper Assist Blade, 6-80 Ratchet, and Wedge Bit round out a solid combo. However, as a Booster, it doesn’t include a launcher, making it better suited for those who already own a CX Beyblade top.

The Dark Main Blade is a durable, three-pronged design with some burst potential on angled contact. It performs well as a mobile anti-Attack option, serving as a solid alternative to the hard-to-find Knight Mail Blade. Paired with the Bumper Assist Blade, the best-performing Assist Blade of the early CX line, it gains better stability and weight. The Assist Blade’s vertical bumps offer a decent buffer against hits, though some gaps may still expose it to knockouts or imbalance.

The 6-80 Ratchet suffers from similar problems seen in the 6-60 variant, namely scraping and burst vulnerability due to height and protrusion design. Still, the standout part is the Wedge Bit—a surprisingly well-rounded performer with good stamina, mobility, and self-righting ability. Its versatility makes it viable in both Attack and Balance setups, and it’s arguably the highlight of the set.

  3. Bumper Assist Blade: 5.30g
  4. 6-80 Ratchet: 6.87g
  5. Wedge Bit: 1.83g
Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. The Dark Main Blade is a simplistic and rugged three-pronged silhouette with thin plastic humps that add texture and contact cushioning from certain angles. This Blade’s performance is reminiscent of Knight Mail Blade, given its conservative yet sometimes explosive capabilities. As such, it is a decent mobile anti-Attack option, and could serve as a competent sidegrade for the Knight Mail Blade that is, at the time of release, locked to a single expensive set. It isn’t quite as imbalanced as the other introductory CX blades and bolsters a decent weight as well. The times where its edges do make explosive contact can sometimes result in spectacular over finishes against other attackers, which shouldn’t be downplayed.
  2. The Bumper Assist Blade is the heaviest of the three initial CX Assist Blades, at over 5 grams, as well as the most smooth and even. As its name suggests, the Assist Blade features a bumped perimeter, though mostly in the form of its vertical protrusions, having a smoother horizontal face. It is, out of the three initial CX Assist Blades, the most useful all-around option, given its favourable weight and shape. While this Assist Blade doesn’t cure every problem with early CX Blades in this meta, it does make Arc and Dark a bit more viable than they otherwise would be. It is, of the original three, the most competitively viable at launch.
  3. The Wedge Bit is among the most interesting and unique Bits to date. It is a Bit that comes to a rather thin and small point, with a similar concave shape as High Needle Bit – but without nearly the same diameter. It also features a thin endurance-style shaft rather than a thick attack-style shaft, making it technically more likely to burst. In spite of its slightly unusual design and shaft, the Wedge Bit manages to handle itself well, with manageable patterning at high RPM, decent endurance, and excellent ability to right itself after tilting (on the right Blade). It may see use in a variety of unique applications, rather than pigeon-holed into a single niche. It is much more balance-y than marketed by Takara-Tomy. It has slightly mobile patterning, deceptively good endurance, docility, and an incredible knack for regaining balance on Wizard Rod Blade. Easily the most standout singular part in the release, and the most surprising as well. It could see use on pure Attack setups, where it isn’t as prone to bursting as expected, as well as balance-type endurance combos too, which is a notable typing breadth for any Bit.
  4. Overall, most every piece in this Booster release has some kind of use, purpose, or would make a meaningful addition to an existing Blader’s collection easily. Rarely do we see releases where most parts are both unique and still competitively viable.
Weaknesses
  1. Lock Chip tightness varies from piece to piece, adding unnecessary complexity and potential for outliers in combo making. Be sure to compare your different Lock Chips when constructing competitive combos!
  2. Despite the positives that can be extolled about several of the parts in this release, it is on the whole (the Dark Main Blade and Bumper Assist Blade in particular) not good enough to be considered the top of “top tier” competitively at the time of release. There are many existing options in the BX Line and UX Line that are better. The same can be said about each of the Blades included with the initial three releases in the CX Line due to a variety of factors including their height and weight.
  3. The 6-80 Ratchet has many of the same weaknesses as the 6-60 Ratchet, despite its tighter locking mechanism and height that prevents as many opportunities to scrape as early. In general a Ratchet with this many protrusions, no matter how subtle, at the 80 height is at an innate disadvantage and more burst-prone. This is doubly true with the CX system’s already-tall Blade composition exposing it further. On release it struggles to find a niche or home that it can excel in.
  4. The Wedge Bit, while it does have good endurance, does not compare to other top tier Bits at release in this category when all else is equal.
  5. The Booster nature of this release makes it so you must have an existing collection in order to utilize Dark Perseus – there is no launcher.

CX-02 Wizard Arc R4-55LO Starter Review

Summary

CX-02 Wizard Arc R4-55LO Starter includes a right-spinning stamina type Custom Line Beyblade X top and Winder Launcher. The top comes with five brand new parts. The first is the Wizard Arc Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Wizard Lock Chip and Arc Main Blade. The Round Assist Blade, 4-55 Ratchet, and Low Orb Bit round out the rest of the combination.

As a stamina type, this set is approachable for beginners but may underwhelm more competitive players due to its limited endurance relative to its top tier contemporaries and balance issues. The Wizard Lock Chip pairs with the Arc Main Blade to form a smooth, defensive-minded combo, though inconsistent Lock Chip tightness can be a drawback.

The Arc Main Blade is a lightweight, mostly hollow design reminiscent of Burn from the Metal Fight Beyblade series, built for stamina and low recoil. However, its imbalance from exposed screws and perforations reduces its overall stamina, making it vulnerable to modern Attack types. The Round Assist Blade follows a similar low-recoil design but tends to destabilize easily, adding little benefit and potentially draining stamina in battle.

The 4-55 Ratchet is the shortest available, offering new low-angle attack opportunities but suffering from the weakest locks in the game, limiting its use to Bits with strong burst resistance. In contrast, the Low Orb Bit stands out as a solid upgrade over the original, providing low height and improved stability without sacrificing performance. While the stock combo struggles in the competitive environment at release, the Ratchet and Bit add value for collectors or experimental combo builders.

Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. The Arc Main Blade can see some decent use as a pure defense type combo in tandem with the Bumper Assist Blade. The resulting combination is a fairly smooth Blade with only a few select areas that produce meaningful recoil (and therefore expose it to easy knock-outs). On a Bit like Hexa it can serve as a lower quality alternative to something like Silver Wolf Blade, though not quite as defensively potent or endurance-heavy, so we would hesitate to recommend it over other options like the Silver Wolf Blade completely.
  2. The 4-55 Ratchet is the lowest height Ratchet upon its release, and similar to the previous 3-85, features a unibody design rather than a designated protrusion ring and internal lock mechanism. While listed as a “4” the design itself features four large sides with 2 smaller protrusions, resulting in 4 “large” contact points but 8 “small” contact points. Despite its light weight, and potentially hazardous-to-Blades unibody, it can help give Attack Blades a chance at striking from even lower. This Ratchet has particularly weak locking, but on a high resistance Bit this can be mitigated to a degree. For Attack Blades that wear down considerably over time and perform worse as a result, using something like 4-55LF may give it extra legs to stand on, and this is where 4-55 may shine best. The reason being the slightly different points of contact being exposed or utilized at that low of a height weren’t in the equation at more conventional heights/setups, making them less dull/more potent, relatively speaking.
  3. The Low Orb Bit is, as its name implies, a 1 millimeter shorter version of the original Orb Bit. Unlike other “low” versions, though, this Low Orb retains pretty much identical design and qualities to its predecessor other than its height. Because of this, it can effectively be considered as an outright improvement over the original Orb Bit. The original Orb Bit did see some use early on as a Ball Bit side-grade but fell out of favour relatively quickly due to its propensity to tip over. The Low Orb Bit performs just as decently into the Ball Bit in mirror matches but is afforded a lower height and just as much docility, with the added perk of being able to right itself better than the original. Being lower also naturally lends itself to improving the burst resistance of the Beyblade using it. This Bit may be useful for those that appreciate less chaos than what the Ball Bit offers without losing out too much on endurance and being even lower to the ground.
  4. The CX Starters come with excellent Winders and Launchers for those that enjoy that style of play or are just getting into the Beyblade hobby and lack a means to launch their tops.
Weaknesses
  1. Lock Chip tightness varies from piece to piece, adding unnecessary complexity and potential for outliers in combo making. Be sure to compare your different Lock Chips when constructing competitive combos!
  2. The Arc Main Blade has fairly poor Stamina despite its looks, and even with the Bumper Assist Blade it finds itself being out spun by aggressive, higher-stamina Attackers, making it a fairly imperfect defensive answer and therefore without a highly competitive home at release.
  3. The first three CX Line combination possibilities and pairings struggle into the existing meta due to their increased height. The Round Assist Blade seems to be fairly prone to imbalance and stamina draining. The Assist Blade doesn’t meaningfully assist in absorbing impacts from oncoming Attackers either, so it is at this point hard to recommend for Stamina or Defense style Combos. Its width also disqualifies it from use on something like Brave, as it only gets in the way of aggressive contact points.
  4. The 4-55 Ratchet, abiding by the rule that lower height means weaker burst resistance and taller height means more, has the weakest locks to date. This makes it difficult to use on Bits not featuring a high resistance shaft, and even then, sometimes it is not strong enough to use without noticeably increasing burst risk.
  5. The Low Orb Bit is an improvement over the original Orb Bit, but it nevertheless suffers from the same issue which has kept it from seeing play in pure stamina types: towards the end of battle it falls over slightly earlier than the slightly wider Ball Bit. This is an issue that may be possible to overcome when the Beyblade using Low Orb is well balance-tuned in comparison to the opponent using the Ball Bit, but if all is equal Ball should have the edge stamina-wise because of this.

CX-01 Dran Brave S6-60V Starter Review

Summary

CX-01 Dran Brave S6-60V Starter includes a right-spinning attack type Custom Line Beyblade X top and Winder Launcher. The top comes with five brand new parts. The first is the Dran Brave Blade, which is composed of two parts: the Dran Lock Chip and Brave Main Blade. The Slash Assist Blade, 6-60 Ratchet, and Vortex Bit round out the rest of the combination.

This set is beginner-friendly thanks to its launcher, though competitive players may find the inconsistent tightness of Lock Chips frustrating.

The Brave Main Blade is a heavy, tri-wing metal piece wrapped in blue plastic, built for knockouts. It weighs 31g on its own and about 37g fully assembled, offering strong Smash Attack early in battle. However, its raised contact points and reliance on steep launch angles reduce its effectiveness. The matching Slash Assist Blade adds little value in practice, often draining stamina without improving performance.

The 6-60 Ratchet debuts with a low, balance, rounded design that makes it usable competitively, but it suffers from slightly early scraping and increased burst risk over existing options. In contrast, the Vortex Bit stands out with its wider diameter, improving speed and aggressive movement. While the combo as a whole falls short when compared to its contemporaries in the competitive scene, the Vortex Bit and launcher make it a decent pickup for attackers or new players looking to get started.

Performance & Value
Strengths
  1. The Brave Main Blade has prominent Smash Attack at the very start of battle.
  2. The Vortex Bit is an excellent Attack Bit that feels like more than just an obvious re-hash or unnecessary sidegrade to existing Bits that have plagued previous releases. The additional milimetre of surface area dramatically alter its feel and performance compared to the likes of Cyclone Bit or Rush Bit. Its increased speed and likelihood to Xtreme Dash make it stand out among existing Attack Bits as an option for those that want their Beyblade combo to be “all in”.
  2. The Brave Main Blade, does have glaring weaknesses due to CX Blades’ elevated height. With later releases it may find a home as a potent pure Attack type Beyblade. At release, despite strong Smash Attack in the early stages of battles, it remains firmly behind existing, easier to use options.  It doesn’t perform very well unless very aggressively tilted, as most of its meaningful contact points are generally raised too high up even on 55 or 60 height Ratchets.
  3. The first three CX Line combination possibilities and pairings struggle into the existing top tier combos at release  due to their increased height. In Brave’s case the Slash Assist Blade does little but soften blows and drain stamina quickly, making it a poor option for its stock Blade combo or other existing CX Main Blades.
  4. The 6-60 Ratchet shape is not ‘bad’ per se. It is thin and balanced, but in our initial testing resulted in both earlier scraping and higher burst likelihood. When all else is equal with the quality and fit of your Ratchets with the parts you’re using, this makes it difficult to recommend over existing staples like 3-60 or 9-60 for any application.
